Locking problem, not one ive encountered before

Hi,
My P38 DSE(1997) has developed a locking issue

Car has been in to have a new oil cooler and pipes, and some new brakes fitted.

When i got the car back tonight as usual i had to reset all the windows, however i went to lock the car of the key fob and nothing happened, it was working previous to any work carried out.
The door will not even lock of the key, you turn the key and nothing happens, if your in the car and push the lock down everything locks.

The car had a new door locking mechanism 4 months ago when it failed.

Ive tried the usual syncing the key but nothing happend due to not being able to lock the car.

any suggestions i can try tonight else will have to take it back to the garage tomorrow.

When you say lock with the key you mean pressing the fob rather than mechanically turning the key in the lock?

If you lock/unlock the passenger door from inside, do all the other locks work?

mechanically lock by turning the key.

yep,

I know they have had the battery of the car and have had it jacked up with tailgate open if that make any differance
