HELP while changing the doorlock on my Discovery 2 I've managed too lock the car with me on the outside looking land feeling like a complete idiot. the new lock (second hand) wont work and the key fob is staring at me from the centre console. The bonnet is open but that's it. Can anyone help me?

I sympathise with you. Had similar problem a year ago. Broken drivers door lock and no central locking working. tried everything then eventually called a very nice man from the RAC. He had all the kit for getting into cars ….levers spreaders the whole works. but after 2 hours yes 2hours trying everything he new...we were still outside. So final make or break solution......which we had been putting off because of the potential for disaster. Bending the rear passenger door far enough open to get a long rod with a hook on it to pull the opposite door release. after a few attempts and near misses ...success.
The one good thing to come from this was that the Old D2 is a bugger to get into if you are intending to steal it...….not that of course anyone in their right mind would want to steal one.

Had same happen to me last year with a Citroen C5 saloon, we had driven around 80 miles and had just pitched the caravan when i threw the keys on the drivers seat and closed the door to remove the towing mirror, the car locked itself and after bouncing the caravan wrench off the passenger side front quarter window. only just about marked it. Had to call out the breakdown services.
A right miserable bloke came out and forced small nylon wedges into the top rear corner of the drivers door, then slipped one of those little baloon things in, inflated it a bit to ease the gap open a bit more, then used a metal rod to pull on drivers door pull.
Looked very damaging what he was doing but the car recovered from it.
Don't know if you could do this on a discovery.
