Locked Out of a Freelander 1?

This worked on my Freelander 1 2000 Perkins , hopefully it will work on yours too.

Set the scene;
I've bought a new fob case for my one key fob and noticed the battery holder was damaged and resoldered it. The one key I have only fits the fuel cap and not the door. The fob will no longer unlock the car . Call my breakdown company for assistance.

Now, how did we get it too work? To save you the hassle of trying everything, here's what we did...

1. Wedge open a rear door and wind down a window with a hook, all the way so that you can either climb in or use the hook to realise the bonnet.

2. Open the bonnet and press the fuel cut of switch (mine was at the top right, rubber cap, just presses in)

3. Press a fob button, the alarm that's going off should stop and your locks should work.

We were both quite impressed and thought this was noteworthy. He said that it resets the dead locks because of the "crash" and apparently also relearns the fob.

I thought it might of been, if someone is stuck this would be considered a rescue.

Regardless, I have posted it to general, could you delete this or advise on how I can do so?

It isn’t at all relevant. In fact it’s highly situational.

LZIR is for people broken down or otherwise stuck that need assistance either with parts to get them going or a tow/quick spot of help and need assistance ASAP/In a predicament.

It isn’t relevant for general either. If anything it’s an interesting tidbit for the freelander section

Being locked out of your vehicle isn't being stuck or in need of assistance?

Once again, if you want it moved or deleted you'll have to moderate it. I'm trying to provide useful information that isn't documented to people who need it. Avoiding the need for recovery and/or wasting money. It will also potentially work on other vehicles and not just freelanders as other vehicles have the same switch.

I don't think this is relevant at all. This should be deleted.

Obviously it is, however again, it’s highly situational. This isn’t a sub forum for information, it’s to post a request for assistance and to have someone physically go out and help you. If you’re in a situation where you need assistance on the roadside, you don’t want to have to scroll through pages of waffle on what could potentially help. You want someone to come and help you.

Otherwise **** it, why not post everything on landyzone here? If it helps solve a potential problem that someone somewheremight have and spend the time flipping through this subforum to get to.

Then provide it in the correct (freelander) subforum.
This is for “oh **** I’m sinking in mud come help pls” or “**** me I spun off and I’m in a ditch”. As in where you need someone to come to your assistance, like a sausage roll eating, 4WD version of thunderbirds.

International Rescue is for people being rescued in the here and now. It is a bit like the difference between A&E and seeing your GP - LZIR is the full blues and twos response.

Freelander section for this. Nice titbit for the Gaylander crowd. Thanks for sharing.

Easily done.
Oh by the way if your toast always lands butter side down when dropped, research has unveiled its the height of your worktops in conjunction with the rotation speed of free falling toast.

Lift your worktops by eight inches and all should be well.

Hope this helps someone stuck in three feet of snow.

You could also lower them by 8 inches
