lockable cubby box ?

Hi all,
I have just spotted a lockable cubby box lid on a 1985 RRC , and wondered if this was ever a standard fitment , or has an owner fitted it himself?

Mine's an '85. It ain't a Vogue though, just a basic Classic with a manual shift.
The centre console looks a bit different but it's still got a lockable cubby box.


A lockable under dash glove box would have been nice, but I've never seen one fitted.
There's plenty room for one on each side of the dash. The panel below the radio is a total waste of usable storage space.

jwm, I see your lockable lid , and was aware of that type , but I meant the later type fitted about 1987 onwards.The one in the ebay photo (last one) looks to have been fitted into the front edge, and i have never seen anything like it before.

Yeah, I see what you mean Bob, but I'm not familiar enough with any other models but my own. Perhaps the "Originally owned from new by a Saudi Prince " bit might explain it? Many a different mod would have been available to him.

Tidy lookin' motor though. Pity it's got an auto box and Injection, otherwise I could be tempted myself. Mind you, if the price stays down as it seems to be, I could well be tempted anyway. It's in my watch list.
