Location of FBH sensor

I'm going to replace the sensor for my Fuel Burning Heater. I know that the heater itself is located on N/S/F but I'm not sure where the sensor is exactly. The replacement sensor is quite small, so I'd imagine it can be difficult to find without any info. Does anyone know?

You have to remove the front bumper for access and you'll see it just right of centre.

I managed to undo the offside of the bumper and move it enough to get my hand in

Is there any reason you can't disconnect the sensor further back and connect the wires to a new sensor and fix it somewhere else. That way you don't have to remove the front bumper ?

It is entirely possible if you can find the wires in the loom. Some people have fitted a switch instead of the sensor so it can be controlled manually. A disadvantage of them is that after been on a run and you put the car in the garage it fills the garage with diesel fumes as the fan in the fbh runs for a few minutes after you switch the engine off to purge the fbh of fumes.

The front bumper is one of those jobs that once you tackle it you realise how quickly and easily it can be removed.

As for the wiring it's completely inaccessible so unless you knew the route the specific wires take in the loom so you can open it up at an appropriate point it's not something that you can do without unnecessary damage. The sensor still has to be located away from any heat source so there's probably not much option anyway.

OK, have looked at mine. Little pipe near side bumper - check, exhaust smoke from it when engine running (it is around -1 degrees outside) - check, noise in operation - check, noise runs on for a few minutes after ignition off - check.

Now I know what its supposed to do, but anyone know how quickly it should assist heating the interior once running? I don't get the impression mine is doing too much to assist, then again engine is up to temp pretty quickly.

I think it about halves the engine warm up time and after a few mins you should start to get warmish air into the cab.
