hi all

found a little problem when trying to change the oil in my transfare box. i went to take off the refill plug up the side of the transfare box but the nut had been worn down in the past by the looks of things. i dont want to go at it incase i make it any worse. it tightens up but i cant loosen it :(

anyone got any tips?

thanks in advance

Ben

Have you tried whacking a smaller socket onto the head of the bolt?
heat an old spare socket if you have one to spare, then attach a short extension bar and beat with a heavy lump hammer.

just go in now and im gunna make a start on the drum. just a quick question... do i have to take the prop completly off or can it take it off from the drum an just swing it to the side?

cheers

Ben

If the socket driver keeps slipping out it is probably because the plug is full of junk - give it a good spray with WD40 which should also help to loosen the thread a little. Then clean out the plug as much as you can and the socket driver should go in squarely and give you a bit of traction.

If it still doesn't shift, try an impact screwdriver - they usually have a ¼" drive or adapter that will fit the plug.

1/2 inch drive needed put extension in cleaned out hole and whack it sooner or later it will come ,you are lucky ive spent 6 hours removing 2 bolts on rear disco 3 roll bar having to remove and replace socket a flat at time then getting a flat on nut
