So far pipe works been romoved to the intake side of the trubo makes no difference. Intercooler was by passed for a run still bogged down. Removed psi box still the same. Map pipe is new and intake hole is clear. Upper manifold cleaned out. now with intercooler and all pipework back on its boosted all way up the hill to the house in 1st 4000rmp

There are a few reasons why it does that:
-dirty air filter
-siezing turbo(along with damaged compressor wheel fins)
-blocked intercooler.

I was figthing with this for a long time, ended up replacing the turbo, as it was using too much oil recently:

Shaft was probably siezing, too much force needed to turn it. Problem was showing up especially on hot days with high load(AC on) and overtaking.
Stock turbo is on the limit of it's output and efficiency over 3000 RPM, if it gets a little bit worn, strange things happen.
Upgrading it for TD04-15T should solve the problem.
:D

Have advised him to check turbo, the chirp when boost goes down maybe a big clue. You can lead an horse to water but you can't make it drink. :D:D

No play in the turbo cant see any damage to fins or casing iv used 500ml of oil over 8k miles wouldnt say thats excessive.

Does it spin freely?
Check wastegate flap(remove little clip and disconnect pushrod) - it may be sticking open. Flap should move very freely.

Free as a whistle 115k it was replaced at l/r dealers same time as the injection pump. shes at 151900 at the mo. Really hope its not the turbo seems like a very short service life. taken the frontera to shift horsebox today so il have a look and a drive again when get home. Left the intercooler with thinners sat in it to clean it out

Well she went back together and ran spot on put my psi box back on after a run and no problems now guess the intercooler was choked up with crap

I guess so wammers done 170miles since no problem the hose from airbox to the turbo top of engine the rubber flexi was split too been spot on since tho :) cheers everyone
