What type of headlights should I have on my 1959 series 2.i have the ones with out the chrome ring outer

Hard to say with Land Rover. They kind of made them up with whatever was in stock on any given day.

On a 59 2 they should be of the large chrome bezel's that stick out some, Later 2a's had lamps flush with the grill.
59 s2 should be chrome ring type.
