lights/indicators

Hi all got a prob with the series 3 petrol, put the lights on the other day and the fronts didnt come on striaght away while i was out checking rear they did come on so today i thought id have a look. Heres where im at if i put side lights on they all work if i then put indicators on rear are fine but front flash with the side light and opposite indicator has faint flash?? if i then put dip lights on all indicator lights come on solid side lights on but NO dip lights?? if i put main beam on indicators stay solid sides go out and no main beam??? ive been through the earths and added more am i looking for a short in the loom?? could it be flasher unit shorting out??? ive had the landy 6 month but never had lights on, please help cheers jonny

i would think you still have earth fault and maybe column stick as well

yeh it certanly points that way ive been on wi it 6 hrs trying stuff, the ind stalk apeard ok contacts were all clean and none stuck??? ill have another play tomorrow in the light cheers jamesmartin

I'm with James on this one.

It seems as though you might have an earth fault, which can be difficult to find.

A short in the loom would be another possibility, but any fault would probably be with the terminals and connectors.

Cheers for replies finally found it there was a nicked wire from ind stalk that was shorting fixed that but still playing up finally finally found it earth screw on o/s front indicator bloody hell 2 mins it was done lesson learned check them first next time

When electrickery goes funny always ALWAYS suspect earths 1st

i did but as the indicators have 2 wires one feed one earth i checked that under the bonnet and it was ok so didnt think about earth screws????? just glad its done i missed it
