hi,my p38 tells me i have numerous faults with bulbs out and the l,h indicator makes a rapid ticking noise,as if the indicator bulb is blown but on inspection all lights are fine.indicator is flashing onutside as normal but inside it flashes quickly??? other than that the big bus is great. help!!!!

I had similar, before you do anything make sure you have EKA code.

Next buy a can of electrical switch/contact cleaner from screwfix or similar.

Download a copy of Rave and it shows earthing point locations.

Disconnect battery and clean earths, pay special attention to the plugs on BCEM mine had a corroded terminal.

If when you plug back in it behaves oddly you may need to check bcem plug contacts are all uniform, if not the most gentle care with a jewellers screw driver required

My symptoms were:-

headlight wash for no reason, dash lights disappeared when passenger door opened and indicator clicking rapidly with no bulb blown.

Also pays to check lamp holders.

Good luck and tell us how it goes:welcome2:

A common earth problem is the one from the Becm to the floor. As you look at the Becm fuse box it’s the black cable far left. It is about 9in long and comes loose on the floor just under the carpet.
As Fanatic mentioned above with the spray. You would be amazed by how many faults can be prevented by using something like WD40 every few months. I always spray it under the engine bay fuse box, back of the head lights, Rear lights, around the Coil Packs, Kick panels, center switch pack, Becm plugs and loom, under passenger seat.

You don’t have to take anything apart and it makes the difference. Most of the failed P38’s I see are down to Electrical faults with green pins.
