Are they legal ?
I bought my disco with a light bar mounted to the front of the bonnet ? Is it legal?
It’s independently wired to its own switch .
I just don’t want to take it off and have holes in my bonnet

thanks

Kind of a grey area regarding mounting anything on the bonnet, any bonnet mascots have to be spring
loaded, if you have an accident....lets say a pedestrian runs out in front of you & you run them down
your light bar causes harm to them you could be prosecuted for causing harm or death.

Id remove it & stick rubber grommets in the holes after painting the edges.
Plus I think they look cr@p stuck on the bonnet.

Have to assume the rest of the Disco justified this horrendous bit!
Have you been to "introduce yourself"?
Best of luck!:)

Looks very nice! :):):):):)
Just hope the sills, wheel arches and boot floor are as good as the rest. And not like the ones on my Anniversary:eek:

Yer I think with some work it will be good. Fairly original reg stamped wheels, glass and 90% if the lights. I don’t know if that matters in the Landy scene but I like it ! Nope ! Off to the body shop next week for your list of above panels and a few more ! I’m told that’s all part of owning a Landy, rust and oil?

300tdis are pretty bombproof, if looked after, engine wise. But if I may offer a little advice, look into replacing the exhaust with a stainless steel sports version. With a wider bore and just the one box, it liberates more torque lower down so it doesn't bog down on take off, is a bit quicker through the gears and you actually gain a bit in the mpg. Apart from that, and maybe stripping the egr down and giving it a dam good clean, or maybe blanking it off with a thin plate at the turbo, I'd just leave it alone. I think they look great when original. If you want to update the interior with leather for instance, they do come up on the web, but the cloth if in good nick, is fine.
Best of luck.

Ok thanks il look into your advise! I’m a complete novice when it comes to owning Landy’s so any point in the right direction is appreciated! The cloth is ok but my head rests are quite cracked . My main gripe is the speakers !! They are terrible, I need to find some new speakers that will fit behind the trim so it still looks standard but sounds better !

Amazing the number of people who start by doing stuff to the ice. Do you have a disc player?
My Anniversary had the original radio cassette and a 6 disc player. It also had a pair of subs with an amp in the back door. But the disc player went wonky so I replaced head unit and disc player with one I had "in stock". Heck of a job wiring it in using the original wiring to the disc player. Also could not wire in the subs which was a shame, and they need a rebuild too, or at least new speakers. I think you can change your speakers without removing the door cards which is a blessing, unlike the Discovery 2,.
If you are at all handy with the tools Landys are just a bit more complex in the transmission department, oh, and the steering and front suspension. check your swivels aren't rusty? Change all the fluids, both axles, gearbox, transfer box. Grease the props and check the rubber donut at the rear of the rear propshaft.
Change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, all pretty obvious stuff really.
You'll find tons of advcie here and on other Landy forums on the net. They do need work to keep on top of them so many peeps around the world are good at fixing them. My first was a 300tdi, so I was a newbie once! Put it this way, I have three Discos, all different, a disco 1 V8 manual and a Disco 2 TD5 auto. Love them all.
At least they are cheap at the moment and the parts are mostly still available and not too pricey.
Don't be shy to ask for advice there are some real experts on here. (I am a comparative amateur, as my experience started with ordinary cars in about 1972, Then Kit Cars then Landys from about 2004 on, not in the trade just a person who is too tight to pay a mechanic unless he really cannot avoid it!)

Well it’s at the body shop for welding this week. I’ve had a full service including diff oils When I bought it . I’ve undersealed where doesn’t need welding. Bought a lot of new seals to fit and bodged the rear mud flap mounts up, couldn’t find a better way of doing it, but it looks ok I think .
