Hi all.

I got a light bar for christmas, i can see how to mount the light bar but all i can think to do is drill a hole on the body somewhere to get the cables in, not to keen on drilling unless i have to.

Any recomendations on where to route the cable if no drilling or any recomendations where to drill if going to make a hole as dont want to get wet.

I thought of running the cable's via trunking down the outside of the passenger side of the A post into the wing and through as this will alow the rain to run if any where down the inside of the wing and away.

I thought this was a better route as i hope to get a snorkle some point this year(money and job provideing)

any ideas and photos would be good

thanks for your time

ok seems like an idea ill have a look and a think when i get some daylight, what size cable do u use? i have some 2 core 1.5mm cable or i have 18 core 0.85mm but i think that to thin for each 55watt bulb

i cant remember what size it is but ive wired them up 2xon one switch 2x on another and inline fuse and relays and there is a resess on a peice of plastic that goes around the windscreen i pushed the wires in there and they are almost invisable

If you take off the plastic trim down the side of the windscreen you will find you can run a cable down the side of the glass and then put the trim back on covering the cable.
The trim is fitted initially using double sided tape and is stuck to the glass and A post. A flat bladed knife run between the glass and the trim will take it off. To refit use a double sided tape and seal ends with black silicon. Run cable out of bottom into engine bay.

The other way is to take off a roof bar if you have them and drill a hole for the cable next to the roof bar bolt and run the cable under the foot of the roof bar in the washer type material.

Hello there,
there is a general calculation for wiring in cars which may help you, if you want to wire 2x55 watt lamps thats 110 watts, cars run on 12 volts so you divide 110x12 and that gives you 9.16amps, you need wire that is rated higher so it won't get hot and melt , at least 15 amp rated cable, if there are four lights just double everything or run two circuits.
a good tip for running cables around and keeping them in place under trunking is to use a hot glue gun, it sets in a couple of seconds and keeps wires where you want them.

Thanks all for your input and time to get back to me

loads of briliant ideas will have a look on the weekend and see if i come up with a plan.
would do today but its way to cold i bin out in it all day so enough is enough i dont want to be cold any more.

any other ideas keep them comeing.
