Light bar - done and fitted

Had some spare time over the Christmas break, and also some steel left over from doing my seat frames etc, so managed to make myself up a new light bar. Managed to put a gradual curve in the bar, instead of how I did it on my racks, so less work involved, but think it looks well.

Also, I fitted 6 lights this time

instead of the 4 I had before.

I drilled the tube for all the wires to go in, so no wires hanging about, and also fitted the lights with 2 LED's to act as side lights too

Had all the wiring in place as have had a light bar, and then the lights on the rack I build, and missed them, so thought I really had to get another one sorted.....

I like the sound of LED side lights. Could you possibly take a piccy of them working when it starts to get dark later?

Might make myself another when I get the chance too though, and this time won't need to incorporate a light bar into it

Nice work, could you take a photo of the wireing aswell please? and possibly where its wired to the relay and battery? i'm abit of a noob when it comes to wireing up lights and i fancy a light bar!

Not sure about the wiring, as did all of the a good while ago, so all hidden out of sight in places I can't even remember - sorry

Plus I have wired mine up differently to normal....

The LED's act as side lights, so an extra wire there, plus I have them coming on when you unlock the car

I then have a couple of circuits running the main lights, with rocker switches, so they are either switched on with the main beam, or can be switched on independantly of the light circuit to act as work lights - one circuit 4 come on, the other circuit 2 lights come on, depending how much light I need, or completely switched off.

All done with relays, switches and diodes - and sorry, no wiring diagram available, its all in my head.....

These are the LED's I bought, put 2 in each light, either side of the main bulb...

20 x Pre wired 5mm Bright WHITE LEDs Prewired 12V LED | eBay

Got these for ease of not having to solder in resistors, so paid a bit more, but worth it in hassle factor

I knew I should have had my phone with me when I was working on them to take some 'in progress' pics

I just carefully drilled out a 5mm hole in the reflector, pushed in the LED and then used my hot glue gun to cover it in glue and keep it in place.

Where does all the wiring go? Though the headlining or down past the snorkel into engine bay?

Wires come in from at the top of the door...on both sides - one side is for the main lights, the otherside for the side lights....main light wires shown here:-

As you can just make out circled red.

They then go along the top of the windscreen to the centre console...

For the switches, then back along and down the inside of the a-pillar down to my second fuse box I have installed which is powered by my aux battery (so I can use the lights without draining the main battery

) in the space above the pedals for the power and relays etc (sorry I don't have a pic of the second fuse box)

Ive been thinking about ways of having marker lights in my roof lights (not yet fitted!) Why i never thought of that is beyond me, what a simple but clever idea! Looking forward to seeing the results...

The LED's are great to light them up - I have also done the same to my 2 rear work lights with red LED's acting as tail lights, and they are also wired in to come on as reverse lights too

I have done all 6 lights with 2 LED's in each of them...

and this is what they look like - this is just on 'side lights', I have also put LED's in my front spot lights too

they are not as blue/purple in real life - just the camera isn't the best for this type of shot
