lift pump

hi all,

changing fuel filter & lift pump the weekend , bought pump filter, new fittings inc olives .

but just opened the box for lift pump and there is no gasket !, i was told one would be in the box!!!!

can i use instant gasket? or do i need to fetch a new gasket that was not in the box?

can i get one from car accessory shop or is it just a land rover parts place? or can you still get the sheets of gaskets/blank gasket things?

all comments and tips welcome.

i would just go get the correct gasket from yer local landy place

wasn't a gasket in the box when ah bought mine either, but was sensible enuff tae open it to see if everything was there that ah needed

i didnt had my hand full of other goodies, plus walking stick!
i inspected my goodies when i got home.

been and got a gasket, was free as there was not one in the box.

hoping to get these googies on over the weekend ...!

Instant gasket will do just as well, make sure block and face of pump body are clean

hi ya,

changed fuel filter & lift pump today !!!!!!

went to craddocks in the end got the gasket....

after putting new filter on i put the new lift pump on, new gaskets fittings including new olives.

i filled the fuel filter up with fuel before fitting, once the pump was fitted i opened the bleed screw and pumped the manual leaver, and to my amazement it pumpes fuel out after only half a dozen pumps.

( any one following me knows ive tried numerous times on the old pump with no result. )

then i went to start it !!!!!

turned twice ond fired up !!!!!!!!

for my disco this is a first........ ( the best of it is it's also been standing for two days )

whilst doing the boot floor i've also checked the fuel lines,sedimeter and tank sender unit and all were ok..... (already changed glow plugs,glow plug relay and leak off pipes)

so i'm hoping now my starting problem will be better or improved, as its never started that easy before.

Checked yer starter motor? This sounds Kinda the same thing ah went through!!
Turned out it was the starter motor in the end.
Might be worth takin' it off and havin' it checked
