Lift Pump Priming

Hi

Sorry if this is a stupid question but today I was going to change the fuel filter and thought I would check the Manuel primer on the lift pump worked before. It clipped out of position but had no resistance at all when moving up and down. I undid the bleed nut at the top slightly and pumped but nothing.

I don’t have any problems with getting fuel at the minute and it runs fine. Do you think I’m best getting a new pump before attempting to change filter?.

The pump operates of the cam shaft and it has to be in the correct point on the shaft for the hand primer to work. If you get no resistance on the hand lever turn the engine slightly until you do.
