lift pump gasket

hi i am in the process of replacing the lift pump on my 300tdi, i am struggling to remove the old gasket however as it is stuck to the block. has anyone got any top tips on how to do this i have tried scrapping at it but its stuck fast and although bits come of it wont budge !

what are you scrapping it with ? - an old putty knife or similar will do it

or if your handy with a blade , use just a razor blade on its own ( its what I use ) .
