I had just bought my Land Rover a Christmas present from Bolt On Bits near Bradford, and found myself following a blue Freelander. It emitted a large cloud of steam from the exhaust which cleared and we drove on for a while and then it emitted another load of steam and stopped. I passed it and in my mirror saw it gamely pull out again and steam away behind me. I was watching it in my mirror but it turned off. So there you go - what's the betting it has head gasket trouble, just as is more or less compulsory for Freelanders on Landyzone? Talk about life imitating art.
If it's anyone on here reading this, I hope you managed to get home before it conked out. If it looked like you were stuck completely I'd have stopped. I have tools, but not enough to change a head gasket unfortunately.
