Lidl air tools and compressor

Whaddya rekon?

Thursday, 18.09. - Lidl UK

Waste of money or worth a punt?

Air tools would come in handy but I'm thinking about hooking a spray gun up to it for smaller jobs like wheels and individual panels etc - wouldn't try to spray a whole Landy in one go with it...

I have no knowledge or experience with these so looking for advice from those in the know

I have an aldi compressor which is essentially the same unit. They are ok to be fair for the money, but can't cope with heavy tasks. The impact gun could really use something with a bit more oomph behind it, the same with the air shears. (again i have both of these units from aldi)

Itll be fine for spraying your landy with but you would want the oil/water seperator to go with it.

my local aldi had some left the other day or you can get cheap un's off ebay.

At that price with a 3 year warranty it's gotta be worth a punt but don't expect it to work the sand blaster or sander, they consume great gobs of air.

Wish we had an Lidl here, really need a new tyre pressure gauge. Looks good for the money.

I am going to buy one will let you know , as stated at that price and with the warranty it's a no brainier really . If it breaks or it's no good take it back

Hmmm, I'd imagine a spray gun will need similar amounts of air to the sand blaster... I may be better off looking for a bigger used one on feebay?

It will be the weekend before I can get there so I guess I'll let fate decide - if there's any left in stock then it's meant to be

That 20m extension reel looks like excellent value. There's not enough information on the compressor and 24 litres is a rather small receiver. If you have a large receiver and using the compressor for short bursts it doesn't need to have a large cfm rating as it will have plenty of time to recover but with a small receiver you need a large cfm as the 24 litres goes pretty quickly. In a garage situation there are certain air tools you would want to be able to use and a sand blaster / sander / impact wrench etc are just a few. I doubt that compressor will be up to heavy use but it might be ok.....

I seem to recall you will require 9cfm for a spray gun and most air tools. I would buy second hand off ebay/gumtree etc.

50 Litre Air Compressor - 9.6CFM, 2.5HP, 50L

That looks pretty good. I had one with a similar spec 2.5HP 10.5cfm but with a 200 litre receiver and it would do everything I wanted. I'm sure the 50 litre would be enough for most things.....

I had 3 LIDL compressors, all of them were awful

The first wouldn't shut off once it got to pressure and set off the emergency release thing but carried on trying to build pressure. I returned it and got a second which had leaked oil everywhere and wouldn't switch on. The third one had the same fault as the first!

I love a bargain but these were downright dangerous!

I already have a compressor but I've gone for the hose reel and shears because the price is so low and I was looking for both of those anyway just for occasional use.

I had one of their big angle grinders which had some heavy use cutting bricks/flanges/concrete etc I got 10yrs out of it, and I think you get 3years warranty with all their stuff?

The hose reel is only 6mm internal diameter. Ok for blowing up tyres but it is too small to run any air tools. I had a look today.

I could not get my impact wrench to pull the skin of a rice pudding with a 6mm hose. 10mm internal diameter hose worked. Even at short hose lengths

The Lidl compressors are no longer that much cheaper than ebay deals.

Also due to the tiny size of the storeage reservoir it goes down to 6 bar as soon as you push an air tool trigger then down to less than 4 bar after say 15 seconds.

The real output is 3.8 cuft minute.

The impact wrench will not get to anwhere near full torque. It needs constant 6 bar and say 4 to 8 cuft min.

If you want to do anything other than blow up tyres you get annoyed at the lack of power.

I went to buy the impact wrench as my sip one is knackered. Its the same gun as the sip but powdercoated with plastic trigger. Some f**k drove into my disco in the carpark so I wasnt best pleased.
Tools are good budget value but yeah the hose is small diameter!

I bought one of the needle scalers. Does the job but it won't turn off! Empties a 60 litre compressor in no time

Thanks for all the info, I decided to give this one a miss as I'm not in a rush and while the price is good it doesn't seem to be the bargain of the century

Will keep an eye on feebay. Also Machine Mart aren't much more expensive.
