Next you'll be telling me I can't take it off road, as it's not a 4x4, and it's no good in snow.

Ming, i think this one needs tweetmint.

Don't be so sure... I've towed a few who took their gaylanders "off road" (read as "the grassy bit next to the car park at the school fete"), I even towed the Mad Hat Man's slitty on a lane he later described as "not freelander friendly", even though his X Trail did everything apart from one tiny section without assistance.

I'd never say you can't take it off road... but taking it off road without a mate with a real Land Rover to come and rescue you is a fools game ;)

I agree. Never go off road alone. On both ocasions when I've got stuck, I've been helped by a slitty. :)

Well there you go! Common ground then. Of course most of that ground is bordered by the premise that slitty rescues gaylander whereas real landy rescues slitty, but that's ok.

Same problem I have. I carry 2x 30 foot recovery ropes with me. Just incase the recovery vehicle can't get close enough to my Freelander. If there's a slitty about, I only need one rope. And there's no chance it'll snap in half due to rust either. The slitty that is. Although the same could be said for me Freelander.

nice to see you guys so proud of needing to be recovered:doh:

There's nothing wrong with carrying recovery ropes. You never know when you'll need to recover someone else. The number of times I've seen peeps writing about getting stuck, and not having any ropes with them... Getting stuck int something I'm ashamed of. If I get stuck, then I've used my hippo for what it's built for.
