be nice to see it back on the road, hope who ever buys it has deep pockets, dread to think what a new chassis would cost, i was quoted near £2k for my 86 inch.

might be saveable if you can weld

if it needs a new bulkhead that will be a long wait

those lwb s1's are pretty cool though

I'd slot it in my carport and fiddle away till I was happy. New chassis is a must I'd wager it does look bad. But a series 1 pick up I'd be in heaven. I'd make it mint original with only factory options on it.

That is top notch.

I just bought an 86 in about the same state as that - original 2 ltr etc..... its was sitting in a barn since the 80s. I plan to keep it as original as possible. I have been running a IIa for 20 years that's a bit of a mongrel so want to do the S1 properly.
Already started collecting some bits but nothing is going to start until I have a bulkhead. I think its the only part that is not savable. I have heard mixed stories about the new ones currently being made in terms of fit and quality. Anyone got any experience?
Going to try and save the chassis - it mostly looks OK.

i love the old one's they were so simple, there are a few things on the one which were done a lot better than the s3 imho.

Only thing i don't like on the s1 is the lack of full synchro :)

That's why I want an s2 also if I had an S1 it would have to be as land rover intended an S2 would have a V8 under the hood.
