Im swapping over to clear lenses and was wondring if LED bulbs such as these be used as a straight swap for standard bulbs?

Also, I see they are available in 9, 18, 24 & 36 LEDs per bulb. I assume the more LED's then the brighter the bulb?

I have those as my stop/tail lights. They are a straight swap but can be a very tight fit and difficult to get back out. I have the 36's and are very bright, bit too bright.

That's the problem with fitting LED replacement 'bulbs' into standard fittings, you can end up with a very bright centre and not much around it. Too bright and your tail-lights will look like stop-lights.
We've been here before but my personal preference is for a purpose made full LED light (and no I don't mean the BOB ones!).

Thanks for the repies, might give them a try.

..I am thinking of getting some led indicators but I believe I need a resistor so as they operate at the correct speed, ie not fast like a blown bulb.

So is it just the indicator bulbs that need extra wizardary kit such as resistors? I know absolutely nothing about electrikery!

Maplin for resistors. cost nothing

If you dont you end up blowing the unit, only half the led's can end up working.
Yes the indicators do flash fast if you dont have the resistance sorted, myn passed mot without and just left them. brakes blew so put the originals back on now. Sidelights are very good now.

I just used a solid-state relay from Mobile Centre (the one linked to above), straight replacement (fitted in just couple of minutes) and saved having to put load-resistors into the circuits.

Cheers trewey:D

I have bought some of the indicator replacements for my top lights, ones I have above the rear door, but they do not fit because the shielding around the LED's is to big, so the bulb does not slide in far enough to lock the bulb:mad:
But they work fine and look great.
A small mod is needed.
