anyone got any ideas. thought about fitting nas lights to my defender then realised what a ball ache it was unbolting the bench seats and removing the cover just to get at the back of the lights.So I had to rethink then i saw some led bulbs advertised in LRO apparently a straight swap for side lights and stop- tail , possibly an easier alternative. Wasnt sure if led"s were road legal or not after a mate advised me not to bother.
 
well they sell em everywhere so id think they were legal. apparently they have a higher response rate, will last longer and are brighter. also they can be seen from diff angles due to the design of the bulb cluster sdo to speak.

are yours blown?

why not wait till yours give and then upgrade

not blown yet but keep having probs with nearside rear stop tail bulb it keeps untwisting itself from the mount. every time i brake the light goes out but comes back on after i take my foot off the brake.
 
well that sounds like a connection problem over a bulb problem. either the mount electrics or the wiring behind them. either way its worth a look behind those covers. sort that problem 1st before changing bulbs for no reason.

LED's are actually harder to see from different angles than a standard incandescent bulb, but a cluster (like griff said) of modern ultra bright LED's are powerful enough to produce a flare. If you stick one of these behind the standard land rover lens it will look great. A couple of advantages are that they're reasonably cheap, they don't blow (can burn out if too high a voltage is passed through them) and they have no flimsy filament which can break when being knocked about. If you do decide to buy them, some companies will rip you off because of the resistor circuit board that is used to mount a cluster of the diodes. I think maplins sell kits for 3 or four quid that will give you the bits and show you how to make your own. It just requires a bit of solder and a steady hand (if you can be bothered!) :)
 
reading this with interest, ive been looking at them myself but ive found they are quite pricey,from the link below they are £170 quid. ouch!!

not convinced but any help will do.

Go to Maplins and buy the bits and make your own About £10.

4x4Bits.com do em side lights for defender/RR classic and series £15 pr
stop/tail all landrovers £19.99 pr. it looks like a straight swap for the old bulb.

the electrics seem sound but i did notice thatif i held the bulb in place by wedging it with apiece of card it worked perfectly. it ;looks like a small blob of solder on thebulb rim is stopping the bulb from locating properly.spose i could trim the holder to fit or try another bulb.:confused:
