Hi guys,
At the start of the year I fitted wipac led indicators, brake and side lights and had issues with the indicators. They work fine when indicating left and using hazards, but when I indicate right it's as if the hazards have come on, although the left indicators are dimmer than the right.

I replaced the relay, checked the wiring in both the indicator and hazard switches and have just wired additional earths on the right if the vehicle to try to rectify the issue but it's still not working.

Has anybody else had this issue? If so what can you suggest? I really don't want to dig out the entire relay as my plan is to do up the car and sell it asap.

It's a 200tdi

Cheers in advance
George

Why would you want to fit LED lights on a Defender? It was never designed for LED lights (the tech is all 1980's) and you are just adding complication that was not there before.

I tend to agree that it's extra unnecessary hassle but I gather from elsewhere that LEDs are extremely finicky about bulb holders and poor earth connection between bulb and holder.

Check your side repeaters are ok, I had a similar issue with led indicators and traced it to a poor connection on the side repeater, I worked it out to be something to do with the dash warning light having lives from both sides instead of a live and ground, when one side works it grounds through the other side led indicators upset this somehow but the side repeater bulb is enough to prevent it, remove side repeater bulb and the fault occurs mine was intermittent due to a bad connection on side repeater, I realised as when I had the indicator fault you describe it dawned on me the side repeaters weren't always working, sorted them out and the fault went away.

Had same issue when i fitted my LED Indicators I solved it short term by removing the Dash indicator warning buld but that would be MOT fail. I fitted Ballast resistors inline on each corner that solved the problem. The LED's need such a low current to operate that that you get some seepage to the oppisite light when you turn on the ballast resistors prevent this from happening. I've included a link to simialr ones i used they worked fine with the Scotch blocks provided I've now soldered them into the main loom.
