'lectric fan thermostat switch - Which hose?

Fitted a kenlow kit to my dads, that had a probe that sat in the radiator fins. The instructions say as close to the top hose as possible.
I have also fitted a few to classic cars with the sensor that fits in the hose, they were all fitted to the top hose.
Hope this helps

surely it would depend on the temperature that the switch is set to as to where the best place to put it

You really need it to sense the hottest water to stop it getting to it's boiling point, once it's gone down through the rad it should of cooled considerably so might not be at a high enough temp to keep the fans running long enough.

Depends if you want to react to the temperature of the water going into the radiator or coming out ??? If reacting to the temperature going into the radiator you are just hoping the radiator will cool it the right amount ( too much or too little is not known ?) If it is in the bottom hose it sees the temperature coming out and if it is too hot it switches the fan on and if it is cool enough it switches the fan off ? It also depends on what the fan switch is set at . The Kenlowe is a variable temperature switch, the ones involved here are either one or two points but will typically be one piont normally open. ie switch on at 100°C and switch off at 94°C (or switch on at 96°C and switch of at 88 °C etc depending on the model you have ).
