Well, decided that the small row of dents in me Freelandy's bonnet was getting me down. So off I go to buy filler, undercoat - orders top coat from dealer bla bla.

Finished it today and it looks hideous - only upside was the laugh it gave the bloke who runs our local bodyshop. Moral, put up with a few scuffs, dents or give the expert lots of pounds to fix.

Bloody HD warning light has just started coming on intermitently - is this the end of my happy run???

Small cans of aerosol & large bonnet size areas don't mix unless your very skilled. I did a door on my other old car & the results are poor to say the least. A bonnet, I wouldn't even consider. I'll go to the bodyshop next year once the xmas period is by.

An aerosol is only worth using on a small area or at the edge were you have a body line or angle change to hide the 'join'

On the HD light - check the wiring connections to the HD switch

Cheers! I've unplugged and plugged at the gearstick end - is there somewhere else? To be honest I've never used the HDC but having the yellow warning light on is annoying. As for the bodywork, yes I knew it would not work but still had to have a go.

When you unplug the wires from the switch - does this stop the light coming on? If so its likely to be a faulty switch

Thanks for tip. Yes light goes out when i unplug. Do i need to replace switch to test theory. I had ocassion to disconnet the battery last week and this cured it but only for a couple of days - is this relevant? Tx again.

Unless you use your HDC regularly I would unplug the wires and tape up the ends then give it a trial for a few weeks - if no light comes on it must have been the switch that is faulty.

Unless they are not expensive to buy then you would be as well sticking a new one in:)
