After a number of different discussions, and adding to something I thought about at and after the Bouncing Bakewell run, I'm wondering how many folk might fancy a day or weekend getting stuck off-road and recovering themselves and others safely and effectively?

Not formal training, not covered on insurance etc, just a couple or three of us who have experience imparting some of that knowledge to others who are feeling their way and want to go a bit deeper into the ruts!! ;)

Still only thinking about it, not got a definite venue, date or even an idea of numbers. if it takes off like BB did then we could do it in a similar manner, so this thread is initially to gauge the interest.

If it's summat you think you might need help with, want or maybe might just enjoy it, get your name down.

If you think you can help, have plenty experience etc, then also say so please.

I'd like to include things like using a Hi-Lift properly, shackle to rope connections, winches and shackle blocks that sort of thing. I guess no-one actually has to get stuck .. but it's more fun if they do!! ;)

It's a good idea...there's a lot of powerful and dangerous kit out there. There's also some nice tricks that would take forever to work out by trail and error like reverse self-recovery with a front mounted winch. :)

Heh, I only have 2 snatch blocks .. ;)

I need to learn. Maybe Warrior could talk to Rothwell and see if they would hire it out.

I can give lessons on how to get someone else to go first when stuff looks difficult. Then they get stuck not you :p:D:D:D:D

That's Roswell :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Depends if you have a speech impediment or not... ;)

Paul D - I'd be interested. A bit scared of actually breaking my Disco (wife's not keen on me going green laning etc. anyway for that reason!) :eek: . It'd be good knowledge for me anyway. :cool: :cool: even if I only do gentle stuff which would only get a road car stuck.

Diff.

Well people don't actually have to get stuck to get used to using safe recovery techniques and safety practise. In fact it's probably best done on the flat and dry with easily movable vehicles, initially at least!!

OK, you don't get to see the hard work of digging out or Hi-Lift casting to it's full effect, but you'd get a good idea of the principles ... bearing in mind you also probably wouldn't need to use your own vehicle .. practise on someone else's .. mine probably!! ;)

Or we could just send someone into a mudhole and get others to take the ****s/pictures .... and eventually get them out!

You know, send 'em in, walk off, see how well they've done after a couple of hours and brews/tinnies later .. ;)
