leaky disco

Hi my Disco has decided to spring a leak.I think it is the water pump,only the water with coolant is leaking down the front of the engine block and onto the sump,i can't see exactly where it comes from coz there is lots of thingys in front but when the car is running it is nothing short of a shower,overnight a tiny bit.A friend has mentioned welsh plugs but being blonde is that something to do with Shirley Bassey?? please anyone suggestions thanks

Sounds like the dreaded P gasket has failed check behind the pump where the pump meets the block and that is the most likely place for it to leek as you have described

Easy job to do - screwdriver, big socket and hammer

and we thought we could hear a fat lady singing.
Said welsh plug,block hole was cleaned and everso slightly sanded as was the welsh plug.everything all neatly put back together and off we go .50 k's down the road beep beep beep goes the engine monitor.then a very embarrassing moment getting towed back home thru the rolling hills of the Overberg by a Volkswagen,passat estate which had 2 gears 1st and 3rd,assisted towing in the form of driving the disco up the hills and then allowing the passat to tow along straight and down hill. so when you have finished laughing what is the best way to ensure that the bloody welsh plug stays in and tight.getting the correct size to start with i guess you are all gonna say.Any tips would be gratefully received .cheers
