Series 3 Leaks!

can anyone tell me seal kits for the item arrowed? I am not sure what this is (overdrive?) but it is leaking and I would like to re place gaskets etc

Have a look on eBay for overdrive gasket kits, doesn't look like a fairly OD to me though?? Is it a PTO drive??

Do you have an overdrive lever beside the handbrake? In the photo there's no lever going to the unit. All that you can see is the handbrake linkage. If no lever it looks like a PTO of some kind. The top is cracked looking at the photo.

got a lever that goes out by the handbrake and it is an overdrive as it works! Didn't notice a crack

So if it's not a Fairey, what make overdrive is it? Who else made them?

Could be a TORO??

Doesn't look like a Bearmach either. Thought there was a crack on the top, probably just the oil.

Drain it, whip it off, get a cornflakes packet and make a new gasket!
Simple!!

Those top covers usually have a cork gasket, personally I'd use a bit of RTV sealant once the mating services are nice & clean

Have you checked the transfer box oil level as if its low the oil in the transfer box could be going into the O/D and coming out of the top of the O/D, had this on my last 2a but was due to my speedo being well out ( driving too fast on motorways )

It is with an Ashcroft transmission fitted, was doing 70 when the speedo was saying I was doing 60 towing a trailer tent from Manchester to St Austel in Cornwall the missus was following behind with satnav

Oh I'm going to get an Ashcroft transfer box upgrade as well, cheaper than an overdrive.

Sorry no probs

Clean off. Remove plate. Clean mating surfaces. Make gasket ,refit using gasket and Hylomar.
