Leaking rear side windows! Grrr!

Hi all!
I have a 300tdi defender 90 which has rear side windows which leak terribly.
Where do I get these resealed? Buy seals? Or just remove them and fit new solid side panels
It's definitely the window to frame seals that are leaking.

Yeah, either re-seal yourself or swap for full sides.

Unfortunately, unless the inside has roof lining and some degree of ventilation, condensation is a big thing in 'fenders.

Where did get the seals from?

If you are going to lose the windows, go online and buy some stainless sheet. Metals 4 U will cut it to your dimensions. My brother did it- cheap as chips- then one tube of silicone and some rivets and you are away!

There isn't really a seal between the window (I'm talking the glass) and the frame. The window runs in a 'felt' runner in the frame. Water is guided out through side slots in the bottom of the frame.

Is it leaking between the glass and the frame, in which case as @Al2O3 says it is just a felt runner. it should be possible to replace these although it is fiddly, just buy flat felt and fold it into a channel. Although if this is the case it would also be worth checking the drainage channels are clear as they have a habit of filling with mud and becoming blocked. If it is leaking between the frame and the side panels it is a case of drilling out the rivets around the window frame to remove the whole window. Then sealant or fit a neoprene gasket between the frame and side when before riveting back into place.

Cheers for that. It's definitely from in between the window glass and felt.

Hopefully, it's just a case of clearing the drain slots in the bottom of the runners. The runners very quickly fill with muck to the extent that the channel can sustain a fair amount of lush vegitation.
As dag019 said you can buy felt strip. IIRC its about 15mm wide. However, you do need to take the whole frame out to change it. It's not as difficult a job as it sounds though. If I were you I'd be keeping my windows, especially if they are genuine ones.

I wouldn't change back to a panel side - you'll miss the visibility at junctions/reversing

I'm with @zeaphod with the visibility and also the light in the vehicle.

Hmmm, I wonder if you have after market windows? The slots are in the bottom of the frame that surrounds the glass. They could be full of cr@p and so you can't see them. I'll try to remember to take a pic of mine tomorrow and post it for you. ( NB I've been drinking beer, then red wine, then beer again and so I may forget)

Although the rear windows in my hardtop are aftermarket you can clearly see the drain slot in the lower edge that is being referred to. You should have something similar in yours which you will need to make sure is clear.

Thanks to all that replied. Cleaned out the runners and found the drain holes.
All cleaned out and awaiting rain to see if there is any improvement. They were full of crud and grime.
