Hi, Just discovered that the pipe that leads from the pump to the rack is leaking, its on a L322 4.4 V8 2004,
s-l1600.jpg

its leaking from the metal right angle half way along, how bad is this pipe to change? looked on rave and the guide is for removing the rack and involves everything upto and including lifting the engine, thats outside of my "wheel house".
Any ideas and suggestions are welcome please.

Looks fairly straightforward if the unions and the bolt that holds the bracket are accessible, but others will know.

You say that on Rave its for removing the rack.replacing the pipe will probably be possible with the rack in situ. Just guessing by the way. Anyone with a ICME manual for the pipe replacement time should give you a clue how involved the job is.

Yes I hope not to have to remove the rack as that looks like a hell of job, the pipe at the front is accessible, less so for where it connects to the rack, hopefully someone has a great tip on here for doing it.

You need to get under it and have a real good look. Sometimes what seems the long/difficult way turns out the right way.
But ........ you knew that was coming:D
I haven’t looked at the pipe or the situation, but you need to have a real good look. Inner wheel well liner?
Is that the pipe that goes from pump to the bottom of the column rather than the rack itself?

When I changed my front prop the “book of brains” said drop the transmission subframe:eek:, I Didn’t drop all, only 1 side. You need to really look at it.

Good luck.

Yeah I keep saying rack but it is to the column, it’s tight round there but not impossible to get to. Like you say I will have a close look.

Good news, just goes to show what a cup of tea and a good coat of looking at it can do:D

Pics when you do it will help others in future:)

Good news, turns that there is plenty of access from underneath to get the banjo bolt undone, just waiting on the new pipe arriving. Thanks for the help.
Good stuff, looks like mine may need the same but I need to clean it up and have a good look.
I couldn't help notice the black mask on the headlamp units in your profile pic. Do you have any photos of the lamps as I was planning to do something symilar to mine.
Cheers in advance, Tricky.
