Honestly, how bad is it?

Hi All,

As the title says, how bad is this bulkhead. It's a series 3 land rover and while the chassis is still looking good there is some rust on the bulkhead.

Do you think this is a major issue that needs replacing asap, or am I over cautious?

There is a bolt missing in passenger footwell so not too worried about the perfectly circular hole.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Been welded up before by the looks of it. I would say it's on its way out and needs some work, what about the rest of the bulkhead rather than the footwear panels?

Rest of it looks ok, not had any patches done around the windscreen or bonnet where water usually gets trapped and doesn't show signs of weakening elsewhere just at the footwells.

It's fine. Wirebrush, cold zinc galv paint, and obliterate with anti corrosion wax. Mines been like that for 10 years. The structure is still sufficient to hold the pedals without distortion in use, right?

In time you can stitch in new footwells. But sometimes it's okay to stop the rust getting worse, rather than sorting it.

Right side as above, left side could do with some fresh metal. Some of us fit mud shields in front of the foot well plate for protection from the crud.
