Leaking front diff

I have a 1998 300 TDI Defender which has a leaking front diff. I have had it on the ramp today and confirmed that the weak is through the weld on the front of the diff. Has anyone else had this and can you repair it on the vehicle and re weld over the leaking area. Any ideas please.:whoosh:

you might be able to weld it depends if its rotten in which case a replacement pan can be fitted

Thanks it is in very good nick but it just weeps through the weld

when i had a leak i drained it and used chmeical metal did the job. never had a prob after that

I have used filler in the past to seal a stripped Mini sump plug. Just chiselled the filler off for oil changes and smothered the plug in filler again before filling with oil.
So filler works but as above chemical metal better
