evening all think my lay shaft bearing has gone or on its way out just wondering how long i have left before its non driveable
lay shaft bearing gone!!!

well what did you expect, we've got no idea how bad the bearing is, how loud the noise it's making, if you can select any gears ....

going into all gears fine just knocking pretty loud on take off once at speed pretty good cheers

evening!! your bearing will fail as soon as you have travelled a significant distance into the middle of nowhere, the rain comes on, your mobile runs out of battery, every other human is outwith a 20mile radius and its getting dark. :doh:

i know i need too,but i'm running a 200tdi i would really like a 5 speed box but who does these conversions,if not gonna be recon series box

could be quite cheap just to overhaul the box

i believe a conversion to a 5 speed box is very involved and opens multipul cans of worms. there are a few very detailed threads on here about it.
