Richard sent me the route he's done and it's exactly what I'd have done! .. So I've sent him a couple of extras you might explore while out that way ... ;)

Have a good day ... ;)

Couple of short mobile phone videos of the route I passed on .. ;)

Thanks for your help Paul, hopefully you will be able to join us next time out :)

Was a good day and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Will post some vids up once I can get them onto my pc (tried last night but as soon as i tried to open the clip windows kept closing the program  ).

a BIG thank you to Richard for organising the route and leading the day :D

A good day out yesterday and nice to meet you all. All my tech worked great and I didn't even get us lost once :D Pity the first couple of lanes weren't exactly challenging but the decent sunny weather and great Yorkshire views made up for it :) I'm still amazed how dry it was everywhere after all the rain we've had! Really enjoyed that last lane, both down and then back up the opposite direction :D

The couple of vids I did didn't come out too well because of shake and were more sky/dashboard than terrain so think I'll be making a proper bracket for it in future

Here are some pics anyway... please add your own

The last few pics, are they of the Arkleside track I passed on? They seem familiar ..

Looking on memmap I think its called Gilbert Lane (track) runs from Birk Rigg to Causeway Moss we went back up and turned off towards Carpley Green.

A nice track with quite a lot of loose rock (as Richard found out ;) )

Heh, that's why I recognised it .. ;)

Pity the waterfall wasn't running .. last time I was there it was quite spectacular and the track was under about an inch of running water!!

Lol! Yes, as Bobbler pointed out I did have a bit of a "moment" on a section made of loose rock ;) I was in the wrong gear (2nd) as the track got steeper than expected. In hindsight I should have stopped and gone into 1st but I tried to be clever and do a quick shift to 1st on the move. Of course this went pearshaped as I missed it and crunched reverse by which time I'd got ALOT more speed than I wanted  Had to panic brake before getting 1st  Lesson learnt and I think I'll stop next time before changing down a gear on a descent ;)

Hopefully he didn't get any video evidence :D Talking of which Iain, did you get any of me coming back up that section?

Didnt get the camera out in time for the 'moment' lol but got some footage of the 2 climbs after. We were going to try to film all 3 but poor Dave was out of breath running up the hill to try to get ahead of us ;)

Will post some pics & vids once I can get them onto the laptop :monitor_punch:

I will do the climb tomorrow they are taking forever to upload.

Was that descent 1st gear high or low box?

Looks like you had fun :)

Was a good day, you should join us next time :) the vids are of us going back up but it was most likely 1st gear low box.

Part 2: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIlS-g61jGI"]YouTube- Climb 2.MOD[/ame] ;)

Nice one Iain, cheers for uploading - all looking good :)

I'm thinking of another trip out on 2nd May if any of you guys fancy it?

Wriggler: The right gear for descent was 1st high (which I was in most of the way ;) ), and then I climbed it in 2nd low...

Cheers

Richard
