I am thinking about getting a 4x4 again as I do miss getting out in the countryside.

Does anyone know if there's much in the way of green lanes or 4x4 clubs within short driving distance of Gloucester?

Cheers

Bit tight in places.. fosse way to bortoun on water ;)
Some of it is TRO’d from memory. Otherwise, not much near Gloucester. There’s a short section near Shurdington, and one or two lanes in the Cotswolds.

Salisbury Plain is around an hour away, we’ll worth a drive. There are groups on FB who go regularly. Otherwise, there’s some good lanes in North Somerset and just south of Bristol, less than an hour away.

The only local club is Cheltenham and Cotswold LRC. I was a member some years ago but due to other commitments, I’m not now. They do the occasional greenlaning trips, a few times a year.

I just looked up Sailsbury plain, have always fancied it but Google maps says it's actually 90 minutes away, so a 3 hour round trip assuming I don't end up on the back of a flatbed.

Looks like I will hold off buying another 4x4 until I next relocate. Doesn't seem worth it for me now especially when most modern 4x4's less than 10 years old seem to be in the £500+ tax bracket.

Cheers all
