hey guys why would my doors not lock when i press the button on my key. the key lights up and the battery connections are both on correctly on the car

when you lock the driver's door with the key does it lock the others too? .... and if yes can you unlock with fob.... as more details as possible are needed for a proper diagnose

nevermind answerd my own question. now am stuck with a disco that everytime i reconect battery the alarm go's off great...

it does not turn it off when i put key in

Seems something more sinister then.

I would reconnect the battery, shut the bonnet & all doors, lock the car. Unlock the car, then put key in ignition & start.

Are you saying the car runs with alarm going off?

Mine did that, sunroofs were leaking and the receiver was wet (not helped by previous owner putting it in a plastic bag to keep it dry, but the bag was open at the top so was full of water  )

When you put the key in and turn it, the LED flashes while the key transmits to the receiver in the roof, that should only be very brief but if the roof doesn't receive it the key keeps trying (there's a coil around the ignition switch that tells the key to transmit).

If you know the unlock sequence you can program it in the driver's door lock each time you need to start it, until you get your new receiver. Personally, I couldn't wait for a new one, so Dremel'ed off the top, cleaned out all the corrosion and resoldered broken wires, then soldered the top back on and it's worked fine since.

took it out and doesnt seem to be anything wrong with it at a glance. no water and looks new. if a new one does not fix it could it be something like simply needing the key re programmed

if the new unit doesnt cure it then yes, re-programing the key would be an option .... quite unlikely ..a failed receiver doesnt have to look bad though

check with ohmeter against body if there's good earth on the black wire at the receiver and if yes try to re-synk' the fob with tester
