1986 90 with 200tdi conversion. no problem for a year or so then starts overheating.

new radiator, new thermostat, oil and water levels all good. brakes not binding.

but.... top hose of rad very hot, rad cold and lower hose cold. expansion vessel warm, all circulates when you squeeze the pipes. so i was thinking dead water pump, so the water is not being pumped to the rad. any ideas?

so just to give some feedback on this. i whipped the old pump off, was rusty and not too smooth. but didn't seem overly bad so thought i'd double check the new thermostat...which was not working. so as a temp fixed drilled 3 holes into it. all back together and it runs right again, just not sure what fixed it. i say the pump and rad as they cost a lot. although most likely the 2 dodgey thermostats i've had!!

Prob the stats mate , just coz there new doesnt mean they work .... .

Next time just run without a stat and you'll know for sure :D .
