My 110 CSW E reg is my first car
The biggest pain is insurance, you won't get anything better than a 2.5td (but is anything?)
still I'm 19 and its costing me almost 2 grand a year.
Its a dangerous road to go down, now I'm thinking about abusing the overseas military discount and getting a new one for 15 grand....
Maybe I'm going a bit far
I'd keep the old one of course...

Sheeeeyat 2g a year, thats a lot of spondoolys.
You must have shed loads of money especially if you're thinking of podding out 15g fer a new one.:p

With the insurance, try living where I live. Most folk think its easier to take your car to the shop on the corner instead of walking.

grippa you are right but for £1500 what would you recommend as an alternitive? My first car was a fiesta, got a slightly newer one now but any car for that sort of money is usualy a ten-ish year old super-mini, Which never do well cos the are so small

Still got a ladder chassis innit, that's the whole fkn point.

Nope, it doesn’t... the Disco 2 was the last of chassis for Discos.

I have seen a Disco 1 hit a people carrier square on at about 60mpg on a dual carriage way (people carrier came out of a side road to cross over to the other side and obviously didn't see it), the front end of the disco had a fair bit of damage done to it, the people carrier was pushed up the road about 20meters before coming to a stop and the thing was about 60% its original width...

the disco 3 aint a ladder chassis , its on same platform as the rangie

well its on the same platform as the RR in that it uses a shell as well, but then again so do most if not all modern cars now, but its not the same shell or part of the same shell as the RR.

Monty88 - Give footmanjames a ring, Footman James
They won't quote you online, but ring up their classic car policy. My 2nd car, a D reg 110CSW, £709 for the year. 2nd year, now my 2nd landy, B reg 90 SW, £558 a year. Also, what engine you have in it makes no difference, so long as it was what the factory put in it.
Robin.
P.s i was 17 when i insured my 1st landy.

Will do tomorrow as well, cheers mate, I'll see if they can help

They are usually pretty good - jus remembered I have another friend here, also with a landy actually, but he has just insuraed his 1972 MG B GT with them, less than 1/4 of the price of others, and it includes breakdown cover. I recommend them highly!

They seem to save me a packet, however I have to join a classic car club, any suggestions?

I just got a quote off footman james for £648.50, which aint to bad considering my age. Also comes with European cover and breakdown cover as well.

However cos it is a classic car policy I wont be building up a no claims bonus, so think Im gona leave it.

Chris there wud be no reduction in premium for no claims, but you would be able to prove that you have driven for "x" number of years without (hopefully) makin a claim if you decide to take a policy out elsewhere in future. This is wot both my sprogs did wen they started drivin

No you don't earn no claims bonus, but it does get cheaper each year that you stay with the footman james. Also, most companies when you decide to take out a modern policy, especially smaller companies, will accept you not having made a claim as almost as good as no claims bonus anyway. Also, for a young driver it works out cheaper anyway :D. And their excess is very good also.

Just did a hypothetical quote on confused.com as if it were this time next year, so I that I had my licence 3 years..2 years no claims...20 years old. And the cheapest it came up as was £549, which is only about £125 cheaper than the same company will provide me at the moment with 1 years no claims and 2 years driving experience at the age of 19....so maybe I will go for the footman james quote afterall as it seems 2 years no claims is hardly different to 1 year!
