Hi all i was working my Disco (P Reg) last night when someone while it was jacked up managed to run into it and shunt her back by about 2foot the handbrake was on ! can this do any damage to handbrake or halfshafts any advice appreciated
Cheers Al

I hope you gave the knobhead **** for hitting the biggest motor on the road!

Go for a spin, if you hear crunching or clattering...then its f@*ked.

shouldn't be but depends which set of wheels were on the ground at the time.

Rear's: just jack up, drip pan under hub and pull em out from hubs and have a goosey. top back up with a little EP90 in diff

front: bigger messier job.... I just take it as ok.

Handbrake ill have either slipped round or not budged, I'd be more concerned about the possible flat spot on your tyres, but 2foots nowt for a shunt.

hardy things landrovers.

Thanks for advice was rear on floor at time had a run round in her feels ok no nasty bangs. wasnt under at time but was very close to front wheel just on last nut to take off !
Was going to go though insurance but the w@#kers were going to write her off due to her age ! not happy so told them were to get off and pull A bar back myself.
all seems good :)
thanks again

Err... let them write it off, get lump sum of money, buy it back off insurance company for scrap value... fix and continue with a few quid in your pocket.

mmm would do but i had a vectra writen off by same insurance company all it needed was a back bumper but HASTINGS insurance say they take the goverments advice and keep writen off cars off the road !!! tryed and try to get it back but to no avail so i bought a landy so worked out for better in end. wasnt risking same thing with landy.
ps the vectra is back on the road
so my advice to all now is keep away from Hasting Direct !!!

rubbish...
most insurers, if its an uneconomical repair (CAT D?) offer it back to you anyway, mine I didnt even need to buy it back off them, they would just pay me the difference between the salvage and the market value, I didn't keep it, I got 2 payments, the first was the same amount form the insurers, the second was the actual salvage amount from the folk who took the car.

hastings told me the same when someone hit my 98 disco bent frnt bumper n headlight n they wanted right it off so charged the guy who reversed in to me for repairs and parts and some for my trouble
