I have a 2007 Freelander 2 and I am about to be charged over £500 for a replacement rear shock absorber (yes for one) The main dealer has quoted this and I have just found the correct land rover new part on the web for £100 so should I be charged £400 for labour and profit? this is madness.

I have just decided to get rid of anything to do with land rover and all the top brand car manufacturers and go back to ford.:confused:

Why did you go to a Main Dealer and not an independent or indeed have a go at replacing the parts yourself.
Well done you, Fords never break down!!

:doh::your_wrong:

Thanks for sharing.

Ill be sure to not be a complete plum and book my gaylander into the stealers for a job a 12 year old with a socket set could do. :doh:

Smarten up or your ford dealer will have you over a barrel with your pants down as well.

Au Revoir sucker!

and, fine, see you later. FYI I did look, and the cheapest I found was £95 + VAT and shipping, the rest around £100 +VAT and shipping, so actually £120 for yer part.
than that have to pay for that nice shiny showroom etc, etc.

take it to an indy, or f its a shocker, get yer spanners out.

cheaper still, a gallon of petrol and a match :flame2::flame::fencing::mooning:

Thanks for all your replies even Johnlad, what a nice bloke! I could do this myself if i had the time. so I will take your advice and take the car to an independent garrage.

Many Thanks

I work in a Ford main dealer :O We are £20 per hour cheaper than the Landy place accross the road....but we dont have to fix Landrovers :)

We'll still take £500 of you to fit a shocker to your Focus though...we also do Mazda but shockers on them are £800 :) Mazda parts with FoMoCo on them are twice as much as Ford parts even though its the same part.

ALWAYS ask for a discount, your almost always going to get 10% off just for asking, but if you dont ask they wont offer :)

I invariably check the price at my local LR dealership so I know how much NOT to pay. However, I did scrape together the £2.63 for the brand new rubber mat for the alcove above the door speaker for my Disco 2.
Not shelled out the £60 odd quid plus for a new gearknob though!! More than a ton for the black leather option! :eek:
