Landrover 12j rocker cover

Hello everyone .

I am hoping we have some expert mechanics on here , who could potentially help me solve an ongoing issue .


The link above shows i have with help of a friend , completed a full nut & bolt rebuild of the 12j engine .

We had on completion 3 oil leaks .

1 -where the oil filter housing meets the block - ignore this no way it’s getting fixed yet I am not taking the injector pump back of .

2- oil filler cap itself , for some reason these don’t fit tight into the rocker cover housing ? Even with a new rubber …. After some engineering work with duck tape this is now solved .

So the rocker cover itself is absolutely impossible to get it to seal ? Has anybody on here figured out how to stop it leaking ? I think it’s due to the centre stud nut holding the bracket ? Have tried to machine various options and still cannot master this .

The head is perfect has been checked .

I shall brake and clutch fluid the engine down today , after a drive tomorrow I shall add photos to this thread .

Rocker cover center stud fixes into the rocker shaft block. If this the case then you need a replacement or a thread repair to sort.
