Hi,

I have a 55 plate Discovery which has been fairly reliable apart from a recurring problem with the electronic park brake. I took it back to Stratstone under warranty and they adjusted it. The next day on the motorway the brake locked on and the rear wheel siezed. After sorting that further problems included a park brake warning light which kept coming on and having to be reset. Finally to fix that problem Stratstone changed the clutch (under warranty). My warranty has now run out and I still am experiencing a brake problem, the rear wheel has again started juddering and the disc is hot when driven on a motorway. I am going to the Alps in the car soon and am nervous about having no backup cover. Land Rover apparantly can extend the full warranty for a year for £1200. Stratstone have offered there own "cloned" warranty for £840. This includes breakdown cover in Europe. Has anyone any thoughts or experience of these covers. I am not sure of which way to go?

Have you tried pulling the emergency park brake release and seeing if that sorts the problem? It will self reset next time the park brake is applied. It could be the cable is partially seized.

No I havent, but thanks for the advice. When Stratstone first adjusted it the whole thing seized up and had to come back on a low loader! It is the only real problem I have had with the car (fingers crossed) but going on a 700 mile trip with 3 young Kids a seizing up is the last thing I need and I have lost confidence in the park brake system to be honest, which is why I am debating the warranty (even though its pretty expensive). I wish the car had a normal handbrake system... progress!!!
