I currently have two Series Land Rovers that I used from 1970 through 1984. They have been parked for over 30 years and I would like to mechanically restore the Series 2A. There is no one in the Youngstown Ohio area that has worked on a Series Land Rover. Are there any issues that would prevent a local mechanic from doing the restoration. The aluminum bodies are in great shape but the chassis and bulkhead are badly rusted. The 2A will require a new chassis and bulkhead. All of the steel components are rusted.
Thanks

If it's just a case of cleaning up the chassis and repairing rust or welding in patches then I can't see a problem getting someone to do it as long as they're competent to do that type of work. Even if they haven't worked on land rovers before. The chassis will rust from the inside out so you have to consider that when rust proofing.

Hi,
The chassis has severe rust issues and is not salvageable. The bulkhead could be repaired but would require considerable expense. The sections where the doors attach to the bulkhead would require replacement and I am genuinely concerned with the ability of a local individual to properly fit the doors. If I begin this adventure I will have many additional questions.
Thanks for the information

Could you take it further to get a better job done? It may cost more but if yer stuck for options its a way forward.
