hi folks i have a differential fitted to my s3 rear axle with no fill hole and none in the diff pan either so i have been filling it through the breather hole. now though needs a new pinion oil seal. it has 47 teeth on the crown wheel so a 4.71 diff and is a 10 spline. so which oil seal do i get ? anyone, cheers

Filling it through the breather hole how do you tell if it is to full?
If a defender diff seal seems to change

Your probably going to have to remove and measure.
Series 3 part Oil Seal FRC4586
On ebay this is listed as common to most landrovers.

its an early 10 spline range rover diff @ 4.7..1 ratio so i have been told. it takes the same amount of oil as standard S3 diff's 3 pints or 1,7 ltr so this can go straight into the axle via the breather hole - though iv read about people putting the oil in vai the drive shaft axle opening?! a lot of hassle if you ask me, willl be using the sealy oil pump
TP6804 (best LR buy resently excellent for filling the series gearbox)
the seal you have mentioned is said to do all to LR and range rover to 1985 so i'll have a look at it compared to the one i will take out.
thanks for your reply

early rrc diffs are 3.54 not 4.7,they are often used for converting series to 3.54 as early series cases have no filler hole in the rear and rrc early diff has a filler in the diff housing like the earlier series
