anyone know if this is true?. i was told today that your cant use a second hand one of these. once its been coded to a car it cant be recoded to another.the faults and the vin is final. because i bought a second hand one and the car will not re calibrate. so we put the old one back on. why do people sell them if you cant use them.

Not sure on the Rangies, but on some cars you need to match the part numbers I believe.

They are batch coded on the production line.


So the sellers may be authentic.

plus 1 and that’s what i’ve also heard , has to be the same year and hardware number , but if that matches should recalibrate , alas i think it also depends on what diagnostics is used

there should also be a setting resetting it to new ecu module status

know some Ecus u can’t because of security, but in some ecus can reset the vin to ur vehicle

alas read others have done it but like u correctly say ref the batch numbers etc
