Where did you source rear tailgate and hooks for the tub if you don't mind me asking?

Tub fixings , I got from allwheel trim, Tailgate, as I wanted to hange the spare tyre off of it, I made as solid framework that does not open.

But a lot of peeps use the full door and cut it down or use an 2nd hand tailgate.

Cheers

Think I will go for side opening tailgate for kids jumping in and out! :)

Also do not forget the roll bar. Again allwheel trim do one based on the military one, but it does require you have the bulkhead in place to fix it to. Which unfortunately mine does not.

There is a rear door on the bay for £60 atm,

Cheers

Look at Foxyred s rebuild he did a 90 pickup but on rear he used a full door cut down made a really nice job, saves getting the towbar dent on a downward tailgate and you can mount a wheel there still
He also used a raptor paint on the tub floor which looked very durable depending what you gana be using for

you can mount a wheel there still

Knowing how the standard door can flex with a spare wheel on it, I would think the durability of fitting a spare wheel to a modified side opening door which only uses 2 hinges would be questionable, Better to fit a spare wheel carrier if you are doing that.

Cheers

Seen one where they added some strengthening ribs plus you could use a swing out wheel carrier still, it'd be more user friendly than a tailgate with a wheel in back in my humble opinion wonder how a swing out would fit on a tailgate be bit of a faff though

tailgate with a wheel in back

True, any door would require the strengthening plates / ribs inside it if fitting the spare wheel to it. But then It is the hinges that will fail.
Spare wheel inside the tub just takes up too much space , which is at a premium in the 90 anyway. Which is why mine is bolted on the back.

Here are a few examples. Just make sure it can be operated / opened from the inside. Which is a laugh if the rear canvas flap is tied down.

I need to get a swing out for mine they're rip off though. If you buy like 10 ex md brand new on auction like 300 quid. Then people charge 200 for 1 on fleabay. Faff if you buy a set though and collection

Really, they sell landrovers..............???...:p:p

OK, I have never seen swing away carriers on the withams site.

Which is why I was hoping you had a link for them.

Cheers

They do loads I was amazed when did a general search at variety. There's diff auctions the online one normal best bits other is like a catalog and nm others just price right rip offs. The red one forget name normal online one loads of ones not used or crashed not the good goo nick ones the trucks always have way too high reserves to be honest. But can find bargains on parts. Full recon boxes for few hundred pallet engines mixed part boxes then wheel sets tarp sets for soft top conversions wheels etc. There's alot of people who buy there for a living but sometimes get lucky

Here is my tailgate & spare-wheel carrier set-up, been in use for over 15-years now and never given a moments problem.
I had the carrier & tailgate inner galvanised a few years ago and I replaced the standard hinges with Optimill ones (to match the front doors) but it all works well.
