Guys,

How hard is it to change the complete chassis on a 1987 land rover 90?? Can i Do it with little knowledge?? How much will it cost and is it worth it or should I look for a newer land rover???

Kevin:eek:

did it meself a couple of years ago ... snot that hard infact its quite easy .... very simple machines are landrovers ...the cost will depend on you and what you want to build .... it was worth it to me cos its what i wanted to do but you have to make that decision on yer own ....

It depends on how long you intend keeping the vehicle as to whether it's worth it, To do it to sell you'll never get your money back. Cost is up to you as is the time, one magazine did a chassis swap in a weekend but that's all they did. It took me five months of weekends and holidays but I sorted just about everything, others take longer some never get finished. You'll get a lot of satisfaction from doing it and it int difficult you just need some mechanical savvy an some decent tools.

and you will never finish it ..... never i tell ya .... but , it would'nt matter how skint i was i would never even think of sellin mine ... i would sooner go hungry....

LRO is rebuilding a 90 on a new chassis in articles at the mo, it's a surprisingly good series of articles and makes it look relatively simple!

They did the "chassis swap in a weekend", but in doing so they used 8 people for 16 hour days and even then it wasn't finished, that wasn't their finest hour! (along with cling-filming a 90 to get 50 mpg out of it, and "drifting" a land rover missed the point somewhat!)

No it won't ever be finished I've still got the doors to do an the cills to put back on an it could do with painting an the roof lining put back in an the towing gubbins put back on an the windscreen rubber re-newing eh an yer right about never ever ever in a brazillion years get shut of it.
