Hi everyone landy is misfiring bad !! Changed coil condenser points distributor cap HT leads spark plugs any ideas?? only thing I can think of is getting a rebuild kit for the carb I'm a newbie so any advice would be brillaint

misfires cold and hot and sorry sounds silly what do you mean by under load cruise overrun have a weber 34ICH will have to check voltage. looked into carb and theres bit muck at the bottom not alot going to take it out and clean it any adivce on cleaning it im a total newbie

Well, if there's spark at the right time it must be carb related. Misfire with the ignition sorted is often air leak at manifold or in the carb. Now it won't start, are the plugs wet with fuel?

Pull the feed pipe off the carb, place in a jam jar and turn the engine over - you should see fuel pumping into the jar. If it is then the pump is OK and it's a problem in the carb.

i too have series 3 with saame carb and was having similar problem. serviced the carb with overhaul kit and same problem .. then took a flatblade screwdriver and placed a drop of brakefluid in between the contact points and that solved my problem .. now it runs well

Mate, I've got similar. But mine is when it's hot. Ticks over lovely and revs up etc until the engine gets hot (not overheating just exhaust etc) then it dies on increasing revs. I swapped all my points, coil, condensor back to the old ones but it still does it. I'm thinking it's my manifold that may have a crack, but gonna be hard to get it off without fooking the bolts/studs. I think johnycurt could be right, but try changing the new bits back to the old ones first to rule out the new bits being defective.

Guys my series runs smooth on both petrol and gas, starts at first ignition, smooth running when hot....

The problem occurs when climbing a hill on road.
while trying to keep the pace, 3/4 or a bit more throttle, the engine chugs a few times.
If it is 1/2 or less throttle it runs smooth uphill but slows down till 20 mph

I miss riding uphill 40 mph:) makes difference:)

sounds like yer fuel to air mixture is a little on the lean side ;);)
