Hello My name is Dan. I am wondering if anyone lives visits the lakedistrict often. My farther has recently passed away and i was sorting through his things and frond all the os maps for cumbria with all greenlanes marked on the maps would like to go do some some time. dont want to go alone thought. Dan

i know im missing the point he is after another person with their landy to come along i was just showing interest as im looking to get into the whole green laning/off roading land rover thing but literaly dont know anyone near where i live who's into it, i joined this forum to try and find like minded people and hopefully go along with them and then when my bank account allows me, get a defender and join in! i know i sound like a cheeky womans genitalia but i can assure people i aint! i split up with my girlfriend before xmas and as i still have my house so im skint at the mo...also i looked back at the past 3 years and realised i had done chuff all i wanted to do and getting a defender and starting off roading was one of the things i wanted to get started in. i dont mean to rant i just dont want people thinking im a freeloader :)

We're coming up to Lake District sometime in August .. dunno exactly when yet, but touring North Yorks moors for a few days, then up to Berwick/Cheviots, then across to Lakes/Cumbria ... all for a few days at a time, depending on weather/inclination!

Wife thinks it's a touring holiday, I think it's a green-lane fest ... ;)

As such I'd love to have a 'guide' to decent lanes ... ;)

if you come over this way i would recomend grizedale forrest and the area's arround..there is always lots of people bodding along the lanes around there (no good if you have a springer with no brains that doesnt get put off by loud engines:D!) i dont know the routes, just walked around there alot so know people use them for off roading and know they have mud, water, rocky bits, tree stumps, logs, and all the things you will probably enjoy :D also go to the white hart at bouth for a pub dinner afterwards...good beer and grub ;) i dont know the legality side of things if they are breaking the law or not by driving around there... but i am assuming they are not because nobody stops them and there is always somebody in a 4x4 of some description driving about in the area or parked up in the visitor centre car park coverd in thick black mud!

let me know when you will be in the lakes i would like to come up for a weekend for some lanes never done that area before so would be good:D

No worries.

Got to do some research but there's supposed to be good laning up there .. so long as you stay away from the bobblehat brigade .. ;)

If you can't make up a weekend's laning in Cumbria FFS... sell the landy! There's enough up here for a months worth without doing the same lane twice :D

I've been out of the loop for a bit courtesy of a back injury but, funds permitting, getting back to it now.

My contact details are in my sig Dan - drop me an e-mail or give me a ring mate.

Cheers,
