Hi Lads Problem is on td5 disco, whilst driving seems to be no ecceleration and when revs get to about 3000 under load (going up hills) it cuts out. MIL comes on and engine idles as if it is running on 2/3 cilynders. I switch off and it runs evenly but cuts out under load again. I have changed air filter, maf, wastegate control and fuel filter. Any more ideas pls desperate.

Not sure if the TD5 has a lift pump?
If it has - change it for a new delphi one ;)

Daz

(just googled it and they have the lift pump in the fuel tank - does sound like fuel starvation/air in the fuel though!)

Thanks for replies, Just been checking under bonnet to see if all wires are ok and noticed a small leak from the fuel regulator. What efect will this have if any. Ta

Before I read this reply I was going to say fuel pressure regulator !!

Wether its the cause of your problem or not, if its leaking it,ll need changing.

Cheers.

Sorry for the delay in updates been very busy.
Well I have resisted repairing it with a box of matches (much to the delight of er in doors) I have further checked all the hoses for splits deteriation etc. disconected various plugs one at time which makes no difference. When I took off the hose to inlet manafold from cooler it did eventually get to over 3000 revs and did not cut out, but with no turbo it would be useless. Finally I made test gauge as per sieraferry (thank you), here is the question now. Gauge was fluctuating quite rapidly just below 4 bar when engine running is this correct or should the pressure be steady. I need help or it will be the swans:confused:

I doubt it is a fuel problem. You may have an over-boost issue with your turbo. See if you can borrow a Nanocom and measure the inlet manifold pressure under load... you should see values up to 225-230 kpa (maximum) above this you are very close to an over-boost situation which will force the engine into LIMP mode ...

How did you adjust the waste gate when replaced?
